If you need a blogging tool, and you are a beginner; CuteNews is an excellent choice! No MySQL databases are needed, everything is stored within files, and it is an easy setup. However, it can not be installed onto Freewebs, or a freeserver that does not allow PHP.
Step 1
To begin, you will need to DOWNLOAD CUTENEWS from the company that created the blogging tool.
Step 2
After extracting the files from their ZIP folder, login to your FTP, and upload the files to PUBLIC_HTML » CUTENEWS.
Step 3
Once the files have been uploaded, open your browser, and go to; http://yoursite.com/cutenews/. The install screen will appear; choose PROCEED INSTALLATION.
Step 4
Then, you will see a page with a bunch of directories, and files, and a bunch of status messages; if they all say WRITABLE, click PROCEED INSTALLATION, and skip to step 5, but if some do not say writeable, see step 4.5.
Step 4.5
Next, when in your FTP in the PUBLIC_HTML » CUTENEWS folder, find the files that are not writable, and choose PROPERTIES from the right click dropdown menu. Then, you will need to change the CHMOD access to 777, or, check all the boxes that are available; make sure when all boxes are checked, the dialog box outputs 777; repeat this until all the files that were not writable, are. Then, go to your installation browser page, and click refresh. If all the files are writable, continue, but if not, repeat this step until they are.
Step 5
You will then be sent to a configurations page, where you need to configure the options accordingly, then click PROCEED INSTALLATION.
Step 6
Finally, you will be brought to the installation finished page, and you can click the LOGIN PAGE link to login, and start blogging.
Completion!
Congratulations! You have installed CuteNews, and can now start blogging! Enjoy!
